It is the Aoshima Island floating on a calm and small bay. Dr.Masaji Honda, the authority on botany made the investigation in June, Showa 24.

According to the report, he would be so surprised and wrote that;
No less than 92 kinds of wild plants grow in this small island. 40 families and 77 species are warm district plants. It is like a big botanical garden and it is a marvellous island of botany.

The typical plants of this island are Nataorenoki, its northern limit used to an Enga river in Kyusyu but it was changed to this island. The biggest tree of Nataorenoki is about 2.42m in height, there are also other small trees of Nataorenoki in this island. Musashiabumi, Karatachibama, Takikibi are also famous. Aoshima Island is one of the four islands, Kojima, Futagojima and Kanjyajima, in Obama bay, about 1km far from Kado area. The warm and cold currents are mixed in this shore, and the seeds of warm district plants may have been washed up on this island. The reason why there are many warm district plants in this area is not yet clear.

The Aoshima Island is 8,250 square metres and 39m in height. The external surfaces have received outer rough sea directly and there are big caves. There are a few sands only in the south coast on the island.
