This was the place where the lord of Wakasa province stayed, since Motomitsu Takeda built the Nochiseyama castle in Daiei 2(1522), Nagahide Niwa made a reinforcement work on the castle since Tensho 1(1573), until it was discontinued in Keicho 6(1601) as Obamajyo castle was built.

The Syugoyakata occupied the northern part of the castle, 110m in east-west, 120m in south-north. There were double walls in east, north and west parts of the castle.

The main castle was located on the top of the mountain, 168m. There are branch castles and moats on every branches of mountain.

There was the investigation in Showa 63 and found out the ruins of the castle just beside the ex-main castle, 630 square metres. According to the investigation, this castle was rather cultual place than battle. The last record of battle was in August 13th, Eiroku 11(1568) when Asakura family attacked this castle and the lord of this castle, Motoaki, surrendered and he was taken to Echizen. Since then, there was no record left. There is the Atago shrine on the top of the mountain, and it was found in Genna 1(1615).
