It is the Chousou portrait of the founder of this temple, Dainen priest. Some temple have all chousou describing all generation of the chief priests.

Dainen priest passed away in Teiji 2(1363), thus, this portrait should have been drawn in the period of North and South dynasties. The artist was unknown, the notice written above was written by Shuntaku Eion, the son fo Motomitsu Takeda and the founder of Hosshinji.

Most of Chousou are not so brilliant coloured, but this is soft and not strong touched to show his calm personality.
