This statue appears in the Engi story in the end of Heian period. It was a long time ago, an old man committed suicide by walking into the water, apologising that he would have not believed himself such a long time, after he returned from Sado Island to investigate and visited Obama port. However, in that night, there were some golden lights coming up from the sea, a man named Gorozaemon Oohashi, the leader of the bay, swan into the sea and picked up the shiny statue. He built a do in Uenoyama and re-name the port as Hotokedani and also himself as Wakizaemon.

It is 57cm in height, 33cm from the hip to the top and 36.4kg.

Its form is the same as the one of Nyoirinkannonhankazo kept in Shorinan. It has the crown on head and forms as Hankashiyui. It would look like a statue of Jyodai, but its face is so intelligent and realistic, comparing with the statue of Jyodai which is rather tender. The decoration of clothes on the state is also realistic.

It is a precious statue and good example which was popular in Kamakura period.
