There is an old rolling paper of Syugokokkaron in Chogenji Nichiren sect.

It was written by Nichiren Shonin in Shogen 1(1259) at the age of 38, he studied the Kyoten to find the reason why there are so many famines and plagues and wrote it with Sainankoukiyurai. Its contents are that he denied other sect and insists on building the nation with Hokkekyo. The Risshoankokuron which he donated to Tokiyori Hojyo in July, Oubun 1 was the highlights of this Syugokokkaron.

The original writing with his handwriting used to be kept in Kuonji but it was burned out in Meiji 8. The oldest existing copy was copied in Kakichi 3(1443). About the one kept in this temple, it is clear that the notice was written by Gotsuchimikado emperor and it was copied in Bunmei 2(1470), thus, it is the one of the most important writing in Nichiren sect.

The original Syugokokkaron has twelve chapters and 660 lines. However, this has only 355 lines, as almost same as Risshoankokuron.

It is unknown what brought this to the temple, it might be that because the main temple "Hongokuji" had a trouble in Tenbun 5(1536) and to escape from it, it might have been moved to this temple.
