The wooden statue of Senjyukannonbosatsu

It is the statue of Senjyukannnonbosatsu which located on the left side of the statue of Jyuichimenkannonbosatsu, on the centre of the main stage of the main hall of Hagaji. It is only 30kg. It is 135.4cm in height, it is presumed to be no painted any colours.

To compare with the statue of Jyuichimenkannonbosatsu, it is a very mild appearance. Slightly smiled and small and round face, flat body, the pattern of symmetrical clothes, shallow graving, these are the special feature of statue of Bosatsu in end of Heian period. However, as the stage of lotus flower is original one, but each pieces would overlap. It may show that it was made during the time which was moving from the end of the Heian period to the beginning of Kamakura period.

It is cleared that it was made as the main object of worship for Shorinji in Chokan 3(1165) according to the notice which was written inside of the statue.

To compare with the statue of Senjyukannonbosatsu of Myorakuji, there are few numbers of hands. But it escaped from the repairing in Showa 25 which to put new hands.
