Fudo, originally used to be one of the gods of Hinduism, had become the server of Buddha once and later became a Buddha's incarnation and a middle classed god of 5 Dai and 8 Daimyoo, it finally became the best god who saves people whom Buddha would not help yet. Fudo often has two children, Kongara and Seitaka, or 8 children.

However, it is a few example that Fudo has 3 children in this drawing. It is considered that it was drawn in last stage of Heian period. It is also a few example that these 3 children were so soulful and it is an old style drawing.

Fudo is coloured in blue, it glares strongly and stands on a stone from sea and there is a fire in its back. As paints became rather black because time passed, but the clear lines would come up by infrared photography, and it is also clear that this Fudo belongs to the type of Enshinyoufudo.

It is extremely rare that another Kurikararyuouken was drawn above a stone beside Fudo. And drawing style which wave would come up in back of Fudo shows that it would be a typical style of Tendaisyu but trying a new style based on an old style. It is also understandable that this temple used to be Gokurakuji, belong to Tendaisyu.

About colouring, cutting gold is not used but gold, silver and other paints are used. Silver is often used on the decoration of Fudo's and children's cloths. These feature shows that it was drawn in end of Heian period or beginning of Kamakura period. It is 115.0cm long and 61.9cm wide.
