There is the famous old temple, Tandaji, in west side of Yatabe on foot of a mountain. There is the Wakanomiya Hachiman shrine at the opposite side. There is the Yakushido in the precincts of Hachiman shrine, north side of Hachiman shrine.
It is said that there used to be a Yakushiji temple, Soutou sect, here, but no one would have already lived in the early stage of Edo period.
The main object of worship, the statue of Yakushinyorai, was made in Heian era and seems to be made with Maki tree.
It is 142cm in height and 124cm wide in legs, 121cm wide in hands, having a bottle of medicines in the left hand. Head is rather small, thus, it looks quite active. It has the special feature of Heian period, such as gentle eyes, small lips and round face.
