The grave of Jyokouin

There is an approach up to the graveyard in left side, after you go through the main gate. When it climbs the concrete stairs, a National route No.27 is seen. You would across the road and climb up until the thicket, and you would arrive at the grave of Jyokouin.

She was the wife of Takatsugu Kyogoku and the second daughter of Nagamasa Azai and called "Hatsu" or "Fuji". She had two sisters, one is Otoku, the wife of Hidetada, and another is Yodogimi. She played an important role for the peace settlement of the battle of Osaka.

She passed away on August 27th, Kanei 10(1633) in Edo, and was buried in this temple in October 6th.

It is 4m in height and made with sandstone. There are the words engraved in front, these words are from the top, Kuu(sky), Fuu(winde), Hi(fire), Sui(water), Chi(earth).

There are seven graves of her servers, such as Katsurakyuin.

There are other graves of woman priests who practised in the temple around her grave. The grave has not been any damaged at all, as protected by surrounding other graves.
