There are two pieces of Dai-Mandala called Rougen Mandala. One is 98.5cm long and 41.7cm wide, and brilliant coloured. There is the title written with gold in centre and there are also a Tengai and a lotus stage described between the titles. Not only coloured Shitenno was described in this Mandala, but also the protector and Kishiboshin of Hokkesyu sect which has also something to do with Tendai sect and Shinto, Hachimanshin and Amaterasudaijin were described.
The most important thing is that it describes four holy priest's portraits, Nichiren, Nichirou, Nichizou and Myojitsu, and there is the signature of Rougen and his Kaou. It means that Rougen made a Kaigan and became one of the five holy priests. There is the notice which it was made in Ouan 1(1368) in this drawing and it shows the typical feature in the Period of North and South Dynasties.
These should have been kept in the head temple in Kyoto, but these might
have been moved to escape from wars, such as in Kakei 1(1387) or in Tenbun
5(1536), and these would have been kept in Wakasa province since ever.
These are well-maintained precious drawings.
