This temple was founded by Nichigen Jyonin in Muromachi period and used to located on the foot of Nochise mountains, but it moved here because Motomichi Takeda would build the castle in Daiei 2(1522) and renamed its second name as Mukoujimayama. It used to have 17 buildings but the size would have become smaller since then and the precincts would have been either.
This drawing used to be registered as National treasure, as the drawing of Dainichinyorai, in Meiji 34(1901), but now it is registered as National Cultural Property, as the drawing of Mirokubosatsu. It is a well-maintained and precious silk coloured drawing of Mirokubosatsu, as there are only few drawings of Mirokubosatsu kept, which is sitting on the circle as same style of the one in Mantokuji. Cutting gold was used for the back lights, other parts were painted by gold. Its dark bolour hair is especially catchy. Its brilliant colour and strong contrast of colouring show rather masculine, comparing to the one in Mantokuji. It should not to be forgotten that it has 5 coloured pagoda in hands. It is considered that it was drawn in the middle of Kamakura period as well as the one in Mantokuji. It is 86.1cm long and 58.2cm wide. |
