The origin of this entertainment is that when Tadakatsu Sakai came to Obama Han in Kanei 11(1634), he brought 30 families of players with him as this entertainment is rough but elegant. He built a corner in Tawara( ex- Unpin village) and give all families houses and named Unpinjishi. It was strictly prohibited to perform except the festival of Hiromine shrine or the castle. This Shishimai once became extinct with the extinct of Han, but it has revived again.
The performance contained of three stages, Jyo, Ha and Kyu. The intense appearance of argument to which a two young and old male lion scrambling for one female lion is put on a whistle and a drum, and is danced. The old lion loves the female lion and fights with the young lion. The old lion wins first, but he is too old and gets tired soon. During he is still fighting, the female lion would mediate between them, admonishing the world. The old lion would repent deeply and they become friends. It is meaningful dancing expressed to dance taste of people's amour.
