The inked writing of Hagaji Nenjyugyouji

There are many precious old writings in Hagaji. The most famous writings are the writing of Hagajiengi and the writing of Hagaji Nenjyugyouji.

This is a Japanese doubled-leaved book used with Kouzo paper, 30cm long and 20.9cm wide. There are 57 pages, but the front page and last 8 pages are filed later, in Genroku era.

At the front page, "Touji Nenjyugyouji" is titled and in next page, name of place are written where the Hagaji's branch temples located on, Wakasaura, Anouura, Fukutani, Nishidu, Kurita, Tsugiyoshi, Kumano and so on.

The fourth generation of chief priest, Daigei, started to write it and then he also wrote to record what happened. The contents go back to Eisho, Daiei, Kyoroku, but there are the most records during The Tenbun era until he passed away.

Since then, most of the past chief priests wrote and inherited it. There are 9 handwritings and put to file new page and recorded during Eiroku, Tensho, Kanbun, Eihou and Genroku era.

During the time of Tenbun era, it was the last stage of the Warring States period, there are only few records left and it would be a precious data which tells the history of Wakasa province in the Warring States period. It recorded that the Tango pirates disturbed Nishidu Obama, and the thief rose in arms, and Wakasa was unprecedented large confusion. It is precious records which should also be called Age-of-Warring States period in Wakasa province.
