According to the Hagajiengi, it was the Tendai sect of Buddhism at the
time of reconstruction, but this drawing is the same style of Shingon sect's
one, thus, it was presumed to be donated by a priest of Seishouin Shingon
sect at the time of opening the object of worship in Kouji 2(1556).
Ryokai Mandala is a drawing describes the world of Dainichikyo and Kongocyoukyo. In the world of Taizokai in east, there is the Chudaihachiyouin which the Dainichinyorai is the main ofject of worship and twelve Buddha around the Dainichinyorai. In the world of Kongokai in west, the Dainichinyorai is described on upper centre in Ichiine and Kue located around the Dainichinyorai in right-handed rotation which is the special feature of Shingon sect.
It is 157.0cm long, 150cm wide and gathered with 5 pieces of silk, 41.5cm
wide. Some parts are peeling off but it still has a beautiful colouring.
