Hagaji Shingon sect Koyasan
Daihannyakyo is the sutra which Genjyosanzo brought back from India and translated into Chinese. It is the great library which contained of 600 rolls gathering 16 Kyoten. It was imported to Japan in Nara period and since then it is one of the most important item of Buddhism and many people copy it.
This silk coloured drawing is the object of worship as describing Shakasanzon and sixteen Zenshin.
In the drawing, there is a Tengai on top, Shakanyorai is wearing a Noue decorated with gold and sitting on Shishihouza, it also has 13 golden Koubou. Fugen and Monjyu are described as standing and Houyou and Jyoutei was described in front of them.
There are eight Zenshinzou around them, and there is Genjyosanzo having a Daihannyakyo on his back described with Jinjyataisho who protected Genjyosanzo.
The gods are painted brilliant coloured except the main object of worship. There are gold paints used in somewhere.
It is 109.9cm long and 51.2cm wide painted on silk and it is presumed to be drawn by a traditional painter in the Period of North and South Dynasties.
This temple has another Daihanyakyo but it is rather new.
