Hagaji Singon sect Koyasan
The statue of Chikasue was made in Jyoo 2(1653). It forms as Ikansokutai and is 75cm in height, 81cm wide and coloured. It is made with Hinoki tree.
The statue of Sanesue presumed to be made early stage of Edo period. It forms as priest and is 61.5cm in height, 105.5cm wide and coloured.
According to the temple, the temple was suffered from fires twice, the first one occurred in Ouei 5(1398) and the second one occurred in Eikyo 7(1435) and three-storied pagoda and the main hall were collapsed. When the Gohanazono emperor heard this news, he ordered Kusaka general in Tosaminato in Ousyu province to re-build.
After the fire in Eikyo 7(1435), Chikasue Abe paid huge amount of money to re-build, but he died in Bunan 2(1445) without seeing the Completion. However, re-building was continued on and the main hall was completed 2 years later when Sanesue Akita inherited. It is presumed that these statue were made by the order of Sanesue and dedicated to the temple.
It is important for Hagaji and also Wakasa province's history and Tohoku's
history.
