Abe family live in Shitsumi Obama city and has succeeded to Tonesyoku since early stage of Kamakura period and also it is the traditional old family which enacted the village headman in modern times. These writings are precious documents which recorded a history of a fishing village, fishing from Kamakura period to Meiji period.
Shitsumiura bay had been developed and belonged to a territory of Youseiin and later become to belong to Tendaizasyu Ryougen. Since then, it has had a deep relationship to the temple. The reason why these writings are kept in this family is that this family has played an important role of everything in this village.
One of them proved the fact which the main occupation of people in Shitsumiura bay was the ship business of the Sea of Japan coast in Kamakura period. And in this writings, there are some proposals written. Thus, it is presumed that these ships were under the protection of temples and Seirenin and allowed not to pay Ritsuryo. And also it says that people who worked in the ship started the petition since it was infringed on the privilege.
In recent writings, the fact that Nako and Kumano village borrowed some mountains, the fact that it is easy to have trouble with other bays are worth of paying attention.
There is another record that a whale came to the bay in Tenpo 15(1844). These are precious data. |
