This is a drawing of Nobutaka Takeda, who found the Ryusenji temple, Hokanryoukoudaizenjyoumon. He was a son of Motomitsu Takeda, protector of Wakasa province, and he played the important role with his brother, Nobutoyo, as a magistrate. He lived in Kasumigajyo castle in Shinbo Miyagawa valley.
His wife was a sister of Yusai Hosokawa and called Miyagawaama and has a son named Youyu Eiho. Youyu was famous for Kyoka and became a chief priest of Kenninji and Nanzenji. Takeda family found Toutoujyunyoin(later Nyozenan) in the precincts of Kenninji and the chief priest would be the one only from Takeda family, thus, it is said that Nobutaka would stay sometimes in Kenninji.
Cloths are formal style of Buke, having Eboshi and small sword in Suou, Shippei in right hand. He passed away in Kouji 2(1556) at the age of 36 years old. This drawing describes his calm and brave personality. Above all, it is quite interesting to compare with the drawing of Motomitsu kept in Hosshinji and the drawing of Youyu kept in Kenninji Toutoudaitouin.
It is 51.7cm long, 34.8cm wide and has no notice written. However, according
to Syuntakuroku written by Eion Syuntaku, it had been drowning during he
lived. And also according to Kobokukou written by Syuntaku, it says that
it was the order of Nobukata, an heir, to write a notice and also Youyu
wanted to write a notice.
