There are 5 JR stations in Obama city. The most east station is Shinhirano station and it takes five minutes by walk to get the Chofukuji.
The Kannon-hall, in which the statue of Jyuichimenkannonbosatsu was kept, is located little far right side of the main hall. There is a mountain just left side of the hall, and a national road No.27 in the right side.
This statue is faithful as the Buddha of easy birth and hidden statue, it was opened every 17 years later or 33 years later.
It is 110cm in height, made with Hinoki tree.
It is presumed to be made in Kamakura period, coping the style of Heian period, such as graceful eyes and small lips.
The reason why this is an old styled statue is that the artist lived in country side, thus it was made with one piece of Hinoki tree.
The decoration of cloths is also simple. Both hands from elbow were put later and it is unknown the original shape of the statue.
