Myotsuji, Shingon sect Oomuro mission
It is said that a long time ago, the Enryaku period, the time of the Kanmu
emperor, Tamuramaro Sakanoue, the Generalissimo Shogun, built this temple
in Daidou 1st (806) to comfort the souls of the friend or foe lost during
the Ezo conquer.
The main hall was built in Kamakura period, in Seika 2(1258), and a memorial service was held in Bunei 2(1265). The repairing since then was only recorded in Kansei 11(1799) according to a notice, but Kouhai and Tsumakazari are the special feature of the modern times. It was also repaired in Taisho 12(1923).
Using natural stones as basements, the main hall is 14.72m wide and 14.87m deep. It is full of energy of samurai.
It is also the special feature that two pillars goes back inside, and there is a decoration of Kaerumata.
