There is a big tree of chinquapin, in the left side of temple. The circumference of a root is 15.27m and 17.50m in height, 22.80m wide in east and west, 21.00m wide in north and south. There are other trees of chinquapin, thus there must have been a forest of shinquapin. It is also interesting to compare with the forest of Japanese cedar of Wakasahiko shrine.
Chinquapin is a member of the beech tree, place in warm coast area in Japan sea side and there are many big trees in Japan. This chinquapin is large to the 25th in Japan, next to the one in Iwakuradera in Ishikawa prefecture. It is the second biggest tree in Fukui prefecture, next to the one of Seiganji in Mikata town. It is considered to be 400 years old.
There is a tree of Kouyamaki in front of the main hall, but the side which facing the main hall was died. It is because of thunder and lightning.
