There is an Amida hall which main door is always closed on the hill, climbing up the steps in backyard of a famous Mantokuji garden for a protected plant of Japanese maple tree. And this statue is located on the stage of the hall.

This temple used to be a Gokurakuji (later change to Shingonsyu and renamed as Seisyouin) which was suffered from a fire and renamed as Mantokuji and moved to the foot of a mountain. The main statue of Gokurakuji was the Amidanyorai.

It is 141.5cm in height, seated wooden statue of Hinoki tree, now it is not coloured.

The warm eyes, small mouth, shallow engraved decoration of cloths, these are the special feature of Heian era. However, it is pity that both hands were repaired and too much big.

The stage is engraved as the decoration of Syokenza which is the old style.

This area, Kanaya, is famous for Wakasa caster and also the only temple that offender could run in, officially allowed by Takeda family, the protector of Wakasa province.
