Once you come into Ryuzen area, you will see the forest of Wakasaichinogu
in front and Jinguji far over. And you go on the right side way, you will
see Rengeji at beginning of a village. This copper statue of Yakushinyorai
had been once located in the Yakushi hall as the main statue in precincts
of the temple, but it moved to storehouse made with concrete in Showa 43
and now it is allowed to look it.
It is 50.9cm in height and one piece of casting copper except both hands
and it is clear that right hand is repaired later.
It is the feature of Kamakura period such as flat Nikukei on head, wavy
hair, warm face and a decoration of cloth. It is engraved that "Wakasakokuichinomiya
honchi houji ninen boshin rokugatsubi" on its back.
This statue is the superior representative sample made in Houji 2(1248),
and is also the oldest explanation in Wakasa province and proves that this
statue was belong to the Wakasaichinomiyakamiyashiro.
It had been known that the Honchi of Wakasaichinomiya was Yakushinyorai,
according to Jyakusyukannaijisyajyubutsuki and Wakasakokuchinjyuichininomiyaengi,
but it was clear that when it had been made, when it was moved from Ichinomiyakamiyashiro
in Meiji 1st.
