There are many ancient tombs in Kenmizaka area and it can be called as
Ancient Tomb Park. There are 49 round tombs and 48 caves from top to foot
of a mountain and these were made in late 6 century as many ancient tombs
were made in Japan.
Yudani area is the most concentrated area, there are many caves on the foot of a mountain and ancient tombs behind. There is a cave north side of Jintsuji and we are able to go and see inside of the cave.
Caves were made by digging elastic rocks at foot of a mountain and contained
of a route and a room. An entrance is normally decorated. It is one of
a few caves in Wakasa province and there are only 2 caves in Hirano area.
The 6 of 8 caves in Musyagadani area were investigated by urgent excavation
in Showa 48. The cave named No.2 had been kept safely from any robbery
and there was a coffin room found and 26 pieces of Sueki, one piece of
Doshiki and one piece of Tetsuzoku. There were pieces of ear shell in 2
pieces of Haishin, and they are the precious data which the contents of
a garnish make clear. Other 5 caves were robbed. It is pity that none of
them are kept after the investigation.
These ancient tombs and caves were registered as City Cultural Property because of the sad teaching of Mushagadani's case.
