There is a brilliant garden, which is presumed to be made in the early
stage of Edo period, in the right side of the main hall of Enshoji located
on the top of the Ozaki hill.
This garden is a type of Rinsen garden(mountain and pond) using an inclination ground at the foot of a mountain ahead. By putting low trees on a boundary line as a hedge, the scenery of mountain is also included the scenery of the garden itself. A part was modified later.
In the garden, there is a large pond in front and there is one big stone,
as an island, in it. There are also two big stones, as Ki(stand) and Ga
(lay down), at the opposite side of centre and some stones are put as a
stone bridge on the right side. There are other stones by the side of pond
creating a cape and a bay. In the inclination ground, there are few stones
with azalea besides. The busier azaleas are near the pond, the fewer azaleas
are on the even yard. Water runs left side of the garden leading to two
waterfalls.
It is a small garden but very worthy next to the garden of Mantoku temple,
as a National Cultural Property, and well maintained. By the way, we can
see the mystical life of Moriaogaeru( frog ) hanging lumps of foamy eggs
from a maple tree to the pond from every end of march until June.
